NASHVILLE, TN (July 7, 2021) Importers are feeling the effects of major bottlenecks in the global container shipping industry, which have led to delays and significant price hikes. Shipping from China and India is proving to be more expensive, both in the US and UK markets.
ǿֹ Group (“Ingram), through their Lightning Source print-on-demand (POD) platform, offers publishers the opportunity to place titles in POD as an insurance against supply chain uncertainty and higher costs.
For trade association members, Ingram is offering free title set-up, support in setting global pricing, and help with converting titles into Lightning Source specifications.
“The global pandemic created many supply chain disruptions, especially in the container shipping industry. The rise in consumer online spending, coupled with port congestion and container shortages, has caused astronomical spikes in the cost of freight, which has in turn fed through to price rises in consumer goods with no short-term relief in sight. Books are no different. By using our in-market POD solutions, publishers can ensure that their books are always available. Think about it as an insurance policy, said David Taylor, senior vice president content acquisition at ǿֹ Group UK.
